A practical guide to Goals & Planning

Give a shared plan a target

Use a shared goal when people are organizing a trip, event or gift around an agreed target. Name the occasion, set the target amount and add a deadline if there is one. Choose personal visibility for your own plan or shared visibility when other people will participate.

Record contributions and expenses as separate activities. A contribution shows money recorded towards the goal; an expense shows a cost associated with the plan. Reviewing both helps explain progress without treating every new entry as another contribution.

Keep invitations and planning tasks organized

Guest Circles stores reusable contact groups for invitations, such as a sports team or friends planning a trip. Check the saved names and contact details before reusing a circle. A saved contact is not itself a confirmed participant or payment.

Use the checklist and collaboration tools available to your account to organize the next steps. Review member responses, update the plan when costs change, and check contribution and expense records before marking the goal complete.

Common questions

How are shared goals different from group expenses?

A shared goal organizes a plan around a target and member contributions. Group Expenses focuses on splitting purchases and settling balances between payers and participants.

Does recording a goal contribution transfer money?

No. A contribution entry records an amount for your goal. It does not collect or transfer money.

Is Guest Circles the same as a shared expense group?

No. Guest Circles keeps reusable contact lists for invitations. An expense group records shared purchases and balances; a shared goal organizes participation and records around a plan.

How can I track a group gift or trip planning goal?

Create a shared goal for the occasion, set a target and invite the people involved. Record member contributions and plan expenses separately. Use the available task checklist to organize bookings, purchases or other preparation, then review progress together.
